Websites
Our unique approach to developing websites has made waves in the web development industry.
We believe that it is not simply enough to create a few pages with some animation, images and text and make it look good, because that’s not what business is about.
A website should be a true representation of what your company is all about, your intrinsic essence and ethos. It should be your 24 hour representative and in its very nature reflect the service and quality that your company takes pride in.
However, there are number of other factors that most web design companies don’t cater for when it comes to creating a website. Simple aspects tend to get overlooked, such eye-flow and general usability, site optimisation and load testing to name a few. It is these simple aspects however, if overlooked, could end up costing you hundreds if not thousands of pounds in hidden and unknown costs.
For more information on how we ensure that your website becomes an asset and not a liability, you can read up on our BT Openworld case study in the “Case Study” section as this was a prime example of turning a website from a money-drainer into a money-maker.
The process
This is a brief summary of the process we go through to create your website:
1) Max Definition’s highly trained and experienced consultants will implement a short but effective research program thereby ensuring that we know exactly where you have been, where you are now and where you are headed as a company.
2) Secondly, we would then ascertain the best way to represent your company online, based on this research, your requirements and our many years of experience.
3) Third, we present to you a number of different “routes to market”, allowing you not only to pick and choose, but to mix and match the different options to find the best and most cost-efficient choice.
4) Fourth, once we have decided on a clear market-entry directive, we then give you a number of payment options best suited to your budget and cash flow. We realise the obstacles that every company faces when making a huge step like this and we have therefore placed ourselves in such a way as to be completely flexible to your financial needs and limitations. One of the ways in which we do this is through our groundbreaking new “Web-Financing Program”, which allows you to “rent” a customised website. You can read more about this great new offer in our Financing section.
5) Now that we have got all the difficult bits out of the way, it’s time to make it all happen! We plan out the schedules, set our dates and get to work creating your very own customized online revenue stream. With our powerful project management software, streamlined processes and ready-built systems in place, we can not only turnaround your dream website in record time, but we will assist you in getting your website listed in all the major search engines with powerful purpose-built soft wares and tried and tested online marketing strategies.
But it doesn’t end there. Once your website is online, we won’t leave you to fend for yourself! We offer full extensive training on how to administer to your website and our consultants will provide you with free support at most hours of day…
Have we convinced you yet? Please take a look around our website and get a feel for our work and what we have to offer. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us, either through our online contact form or through the contact details provided.
Clients
BT Broadband Start
BT studio division approached us to consult on an existing project that had been delayed in its production schedule. After reviewing the project it became evident that it required full and extensive optimisation throughout, complete site architecture re-structuring and dynamic data conversion from static hard-coded values as well as a number of other aspects that required attention.
Max Definition accepted the challenge and turned the entire project around roughly three weeks, as opposed to the initial development schedule for the entire project of eight months!
The finished product had an overall increase in performance of 74%, with proportionately decreased server loads and bandwidth costs. In addition to increasing the overall management and administration usability of the website, we were also commissioned to enhance the front-end of the website, creating a crisper and cleaner interface for BT Broadband Start site users.
BT Openworld/Gateway
The BT Openworld site won a Macromedia Site of the Month award for it’s innovative design and movement. Although the site was aesthetically pleasing, it was incurring incredibly heavy server loads and as a result, the overall performance at peak user times was severely compromised.
Max Definition was once again called in to see if a difference could be made and after thoroughly reviewing the site, we pinpointed a number of factors that could be optimised in order enhance the performance of the website.
The changes involved extensive optimisation throughout, all of which included image management and pixel-locking, dynamic data restructuring through XML and Flash Remoting.
We were also commissioned to create added functionality to an existing feature within the website, namely the toolbox. The toolbox was essentially a static tool for users to customise according to their internet preferences. ON the back of this, Max Definition pioneered a novel technique of bypassing a long standing security issue of cookies by utilising the Flash Player as a session tool. For more information on the technical aspects of the BT Gateway toolbox, please visit our case Studies section which covers the development process in more detail.
The overall enhancements increased performance levels by roughly 30-40% and proportionately decreased server loads, allowing for a more enjoyable and hassle free browsing experience for users.
Iokio
Iokio UK Ltd is a London
based software development company that masterminded the groundbreaking new
‘CameraFinder’ software that has been the talk of internet industry
for the past year.
Iokio was so happy with the first interface that we designed for them, that
they have now approached us to create a family of design templates and skins
for their upcoming projects.
McCarthy design and build
McCarthy Design and Build is a UK-based architectural firm that specialises in customisation of living and office spaces within the UK.
Max Definition was approached to provide a site that not only attracts new clients with it's slick design, but was also a working site for current clients. Their clients are able to view the process of their project online, thereby keeping fresh and up-to-date with the project regardless of where they are.
FatCatMedia
FatCatMedia is a UK-based entertainment portal, delivering the latest daily news reviews and the "Whats Hot " in the UK clubbing scene.
FatCatMedia wanted to create an expandable entertainment portal, with the ability to play and display everything from MP3's to the latest news, events and music info.
DCM-online
This site was developed in house with Iokio (UK) Ltd to create a slick and user-friendly "always on" site that would be utilised as an information portal.
As the site was intended to be in constant use as opposed to the odd user viewing, emphasis was placed on performance, namely-ultra-low processing power, soothing graphics and audio flow.
The website is completely dynamic, therefore making it easily manageable and it has been highly optimised so as to allow for ultra quick download times.

Every company has a reputation. Everyone you meet will form an opinion about your company, even if they have not done business with you yet. The challenge is to manage your reputation so that the opinion that people have of you is positive. This is what creates a brand.
But great brands don’t just happen. Developing a powerful and evocative brand is both a creative and strategic exercise that involves appraising every aspect of your business and how it should be experienced.
Very few people understand the value of a strong brand even though we see them in our everyday lives. This is why we have made it our business to know what makes a great brand and we will take you through the necessary steps to make your brand stand out from the rest. In the same way that we are making the necessary tools to web success through our unique web development process and our new web-financing concepts, we will make creating a strong brand for your company a reality.
A brand is not a logo or an advertising strategy. "The strength of any brand is in the relationship it has between a company and its customers. The stronger the relationship, the more business they will do, and the more likely it is that customers will refer them to their friends and business associates.
Clients
Naughty
Our client, a well known events organiser was looking for a striking and instantly familiar brand for the equally striking events that they were planning.
The brief was to make the logo sexy and appealing with a sense of adventure and mischief which summed up the upcoming events perfectly. The icon created was also styled so as to be perfect for t-shirt sales and similar type merchandise.
IdeaBox
We were called on to create a complete branding solution for IdeaBox ltd, an online software and application software provider or ASP. IdeaBox offers high quality yet affordable business tools and products to small to medium enterprises and was looking to create a fun and exciting brand all the while maintaining a corporate stance with the products they offer.
We not only created the
brand concept for their soon-to-be launched website, but we are fortunate enough
to have been given the responsibility of carrying on the theme throughout their
existing product range as well as any future products.
Einstein
IdeaBox approached us to develop a pertinent and strong brand for their upcoming content management system Einstein2. As well as creating a brand, we are currently reviewing and consulting on the UI (user-interface) which includes establishing an elemental design style throughout the platform.
Core
Core Project Manager is an online collaboration and project management application that IdeaBox is currently renting out to small/medium size enterprises globally. We were called on to develop not only a brand but also to create a “skin” that would carry the branding theme throughout this application.
Fused
This short-term brand was
commissioned and created for the thumping London clubbing scene. Fused needed
to be a funky, retro-seventies cosmopolitan representation of the evening itself.
This brand was also utilised in the sale of merchandise, such as key rings,
lighters and dj bags etc.
BT Icons
Having recently developed and deployed the new BTYahoo! web commercial, we were asked to create icons for their promotional website using the existing campaign as a benchmark.
SugarFunk
Once again, Max Definition was called on to create a short-term brand for an exciting event held in one of London’s best clubs, Pacha. The brief was to create a slick yet fun, bubble-funk type logo, something that would appeal to the POP-masses. As always, the logo was used to its full potential, creating multiple streams of income via merchandise sales.
Promilla
A German based brewery needed a permutation brand to run along there existing corporate brand.

“You can have any colour you want, as long as it is black” Henry Ford
We have come a long way from the days when customisation was a luxury that only a fortunate few could afford.
Here at Max Definition, we strive and succeed everyday to break the boundaries as to what the “industry standard” really is. With years of experience and knowledge to back us up, we can conceptualise, plan, create, develop and deploy pretty much any application or software requirement you can throw at us, no small claim for an industry as diverse and complex as the web and IT world!
Not only can we create the best solution to your needs, we won’t break the bank doing it. With a number of payment plans to choose from, there is no need to take out a second mortgage to get your project off the page and onto the World Wide Web.
For more information, please contact one of our consultants for a free evaluation of your project. We look forward to hearing from you.
You may also browse through our bespoke applications section so as to get a better idea of the range of possibilities that we cover.
Philips POD
Philips Electrical Division approached us to conceptualise a medium through which they could create an in-store awareness of their entire range of lighting options, and collate marketing data based on user interactivity with their product.
Max Definition provided the solution in the form of an in-store interactive point-of-sales kiosk. This self contained unit allows the user to scan the barcode of their chosen product, and receive related information and advice on cost effective, feature-driven upgrades to their regular purchase.
Using Macromedia Flash technology, and Delphi integration, we were able to create an updateable, data-base driven application, incorporating start-up and shutdown procedures (via motion detection), end-user product tracking, and intelligent navigation through bar-code scanning.
The unit has so far been deemed a huge success and we look forward to the next stage of developing the next level of “networked” interactive kiosks for rollout throughout stores in the UK and Europe.
BT Business Toolbox
We were commissioned to create a standalone toolbox integrated into the BT business website to add functionality to the user experience. The toolbox included features such as:
• Search
• Currency converter
• Indices
• Share prices
• Business finder
• World clock
• News headlines
• Calender
• UK Routes and maps
The toolbox was developed with scalability in mind, incorporating full dynamic XML driven menus and data control. All indices, share prices, world clock times, headlines, and currencies are fully dynamic and run off the latest feeds on the net.
Einstein 2
IdeaBox Ltd, an online software provider, approached us to assist them in their development of a revolutionary content management system due to be released in this year.
Due to the extremely “tight” market-entry dates they had in mind, we had to pull out all the stops to get the software out in time as well as do all the necessary testing to ensure quality control throughout the application.
We implemented a finely honed and planned out development schedule, scoping the application out to the finest detail, leaving no stone unturned. We have a creed here in Max Definition that says, “Do it once, do it right!” and we have found that the only way to make sure that happens is to always follow the triple P rule, that is to Plan Plan Plan. Once the plan has been meticulously thought out and all possible obstacles have been brought to light, only then do we actually begin to code.
So far the software is ahead of schedule, way under budget and bug free, which is generally unheard of in the software industry! Watch this space for the exciting launch of this revolutionary software!

Max Definition is proud to be at the forefront of this new revolutionary leap, as we have recently launched an all-singing, all-dancing cutting-edge web commercial for the exciting new merge campaign of two telecommunication and internet giants, BT and Yahoo!
More and more, “corporates” are catching on to the fact that web commercials are the next step to increasing their exposure to the many diverse markets out there. Its time you considered getting in on the action!
BTYahoo! commercial
BTYahoo! approached Max Definition to conceptualise and create a fresh and dynamic new web commercial for their latest internet offering, BTYahoo! Broadband.
Although the commercial is required to demonstrate the extensive features and benefits of their new broadband product, we had to ensure smooth delivery of the commercial over a 56K connection!
Essentially, the commercial was to incorporate full Flash interactivity, animation, voice, music and graphics, all the while streaming down a 56K connection.
Max Definition rose to the challenge and put our extensive knowledge of creating ultra-light web applications to good use. We set about creating and conceptualising the feel and design style of the commercial, based on the seventies theme evident in the BTYahoo! campaign.
All the while creating the storyboard and developing the design elements of the commercial, we sourced and recorded a talented voice-over artist here in our very own in-house studio suite. We were also given the responsibility of the product photography, which we outsourced to our trusty studio in southwest London.
In the end, we not only completed the project two weeks ahead of schedule, but we managed to get the commercial streaming on a 28K connection! Another triumph for Max Definition…

Max Definition is proud to present a groundbreaking new concept, Web Financing.
The general concept is this:
Based on a recent survey done over a few period months, the average customised fully featured website currently costs anywhere from £3,500-£8,000. Generally speaking, very few small to medium companies have the capital available to finance a fully operational website, and even if the funds are available, it is generally a high risk venture on behalf of the company to spend a large amount of money on an unproven and untested market.
It is for this reason that we have introduced a host of financing schemes which will essentially afford you the luxury of testing the market without sacrificing your website features/requirements and at the same time maintaining your precious cash flow that is the lifeblood of every company.
This is how Web Financing works:
What you get
- a fully customised website,
with all the features and requirements that you feel are necessary for your
website.
- Full administrative control
- Full Support
- Two web financing packages, namely Web Leasing and Web Credit
Available Packages
Let’s say that once we have performed an extensive evaluation of your website needs, we estimate that it will cost £5000 for the creation of your website. Depending on the requirements of the website, we will tell you whether you qualify for web financing or not as well as recommending the best suited package for your needs.
This how the process would work for each respective financing package:
The Definition
Web Leasing means that you will be paying for the service of a fully functional and customised website for a pre-determined period of time. After signing a minimum term contract and putting down a deposit for the nominal setup costs of the website, you will then be required to make the specified monthly payments to Max Definition.
After expiry of the contract, you may then decide to take one of the following options:
• Continue the service
with us should you feel that it would make more financial sense to do so, all
the while increasing the websites features and usability, etc.
• Purchase the website off Max Definition at a vastly increased discount,
into which we will take account payments already made.
• Cancel your account with us, after which point we will take the website
down along with any features that might accompany the website.
The process
• Firstly we would
run the necessary credit checks on yourself and/or your company.
• On approval of the credit checks, we calculate the basic costs needed
to get your site put together; this will include domain registration, hosting
setup and development of your website.
• We will also work out the necessary monthly charges according the website specifications. These charges will include a nominal interest rate based on the minimum term contract period.
• Once we have finalised the necessary calculations, we will present you with the relevant charges for your approval.
• Once the charges have been agreed on, you will be required to sign a minimum term contract for a specified period. The minimum term will also be based on the overall website specifications; however the absolute minimum contract period is six months extending up to18 months, depending on the specifications and requirements of the website.
• We would then charge you a deposit for these basic costs based on our calculations as well as set up either a direct debit or standing order with your bank for the monthly payments.
• Once the finances have been finalised we will then begin with the development of the website.
Depreciation- Like everything else, if your website is not continually maintained and improved it will begin to depreciate in value. We have taken this into account and have accordingly worked out a discount rate on a sliding scale which will be presented to you before you enter into a payment contract with us. This depreciation discount will be activated at a predetermined date after the website has gone live.
Upgrades- Should you wish to add more features onto your website, we will recalculate your payments accordingly and make the necessary adjustments to your package. Your minimum term contract will also be updated accordingly.
Summary of Web Leasing
Credit check: certain criteria will need to be met before qualifying for our web financing scheme
Minimum term contract: 6 months minimum up to 18 months depending on the website specifications
Deposit: +/- 25% of overall quoted price
Monthly direct debit/ standing order: calculated on minimum term contract and website specifications including the nominal interest to be charged.
Interest: the interest is calculated roughly on the base rate plus 8%
Upgrades: extra costs will be integrated into your existing payment plan and your minimum term contract will be updated accordingly
Depreciation: a depreciation discount will automatically begin at a specified point in your payment schedule.
The Definition
Web Credit means that you get a fully functional website on credit and pay it off in monthly instalments over a pre-determined period of time after which point you will own the website and all its associated features. You will be required to sign a minimum term contract, as well put down a nominal deposit for the basic costs incurred. Once your payment contract has expired and you have completed your payments, the site will be transferred into your ownership after which point you may choose to continue hosting it with Max Definition or not.
You may also choose to do the following:
• Pay off the remaining amount of your website early, however the full interest due is to be paid regardless. Should you wish to pay off the full amount before the full term contract has passed, you may be liable to a discount at a predetermined sliding scale discount rate.
• Add more features onto your website, we will recalculate your payments accordingly and make the necessary adjustments to both your payments and your payment contract.
The Process
Essentially, over a period of time, you will be paying for the full quoted amount of the website. These payments are split up as follows:
• Firstly we would run the necessary credit checks on yourself and/or
your company.

For the sake of clarity, we have laid out a few guidelines which should assist in your decision as to which package to take.
We would recommend Web Leasing if:
1) You want to continue
expanding your website’s features and functionality
2) You are looking to create a constant revenue stream through your website
that will grow with your company and hopefully become your core business tool.
3) Keep your capital liquid and would prefer to pay on a monthly basis rather
than pay a lump sum.
We would recommend Web Credit if:
1) You would like to create
an online representation of your company, but don’t imagine the site would
need to change all that often
2) You feel that a website is a necessary part of business, but you don’t
want it to become your sole stream of revenue.
3) You want a website but want to get over and done with it as soon and as cheaply
as possible with as little impact to your cash flow as is necessary.
